Essam F Elsayed, M.D., MSc, FACP, FASN

Dr. Elsayed is specialized in Medicine, Nephrology and Hypertension with more than 20 years of experience with a special interest in hypertension (primary and secondary), prevention of kidney stones and electrolyte disturbances.

He received his medical degree from the University of Alexandria, Egypt. He pursued his Internship training at MRMC/ RWJ, where he was awarded Intern of the Year in 2000. He then went to the University of Massachusetts Medical School for Residency training in Internal Medicine. In 2003, he was selected by the medical students and residents for the highest teaching honor, “The Resident Educator Award”. Between 2003-2005, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at UMass. He participated in the “Teaching of Tomorrow Program” at UMass Medical School.

Dr. Elsayed moved to Boston for a Clinical Research Fellowship at Tufts University from 2005-2008, where he obtained an MS Degree in Clinical Research. During his fellowship, he published papers in high impact Journals and gave National and International presentations. “Cardiovascular Disease and Subsequent Kidney Disease. Archives of Internal Medicine 2007;” was covered by the National and International media and cited by about 250 scientific papers. His research has been cited in more than 1800 published papers.

In 2008, Dr. Elsayed moved to Dallas as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical School and a staff nephrologist at Dallas VAMC, where he continued for 6 year to provide excellent patient care as well as, research and teaching. In 2014, Dr. Elsayed joined Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi to establish Clinical Nephrology services and educational services. He served as the Governor of the American College of Physician Gulf Chapter, during which time he helped to organize distinguished International Conferences and was invited to speak at prominent meetings.
